Parumala is a small town in Pathanamthitta district, bordering Alappuzha district. This is an island in Pampa River. Mannar is a small town across the Pampa river near Parumala.

Parumala is famous for the Orthodox Church of Mar Gregorious (Parumala Thirumeni). It is here that Gregorios Geevarghese the declared saint of The Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church died.

The annual commerative feast ( Ormapperunnal) at the Parumala Church will be held from October 26 - November 2, 2000. It is at this church that Mar Gregorios Metropolitan, the declared saint of the Malankara Orthodox Church in Kerala, lies in eternal rest. Devotees from all over the state attended the special rites and prayers offered as part of the commemorative feast of the saint.

Getting there :
 The church is situated at Parumala, about 10 km from Thiruvalla.

Nearest Airports : Thiruvananthapuram International Airport about 136 km from Thiruvalla; Cochin International Airport, about 125 km from Thiruvalla.
