Ambalavayal is a village located within 15 km range of Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad District. This place is famous for archery.

Wayanad Heritage Museum
The Ambalavayal Heritage Museum is located in Wayanad district of Kerala. The Ambalavayal Heritage Museum is an archaeological museum and houses largest collections of the remnants and artifacts of the 2nd century A.D. The exhibits and artifacts present in the museum give a clear indication of an advanced civilization that existed in this region. The articles on display in the museum are of great interest to historians, archaeologists and common people alike. The Ambalavayal heritage museum displays a variety of artifacts and remnants ranging from ancient hunting equipments like bows and arrows, clay sculptures, stone weapons and other curios.

Wayanad Heritage Museum is located in the town of Ambalavayal, 27 km from Kalpetta. This Museum is home to an interesting collection of artifacts that shed light on the history, culture and heritage of Wayanad region. This is one of the best-maintained museums of Kerala's Malabar region. The museum has a fine collection of 14th - 16th century sculptures, tribal artefacts, which include jewellery, hunting and fishing weapons, farming implements etc. Ancient teracottas, stone weapons, and local art are also on display at the museum. There are various exhibits on display here, amongst which are sculptures and the figure of Nandi and other dieties, which were collected from parts of the region that date back to the 14th to the 16th century AD. A series of pictorial rock edicts referred to as Hero stones, memorise a bygone age of valiant warriors. There is a fine figure of the Goddess of fertility, Urvara, also displayed here. Remnants of Stone age tools and pottery found within the Muniyaras are displayed here.

Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS)
The RARS is located in Ambalavayal town is part of the Kerala Agricultural University. This station conducts research on spices, tropical and sub tropical fruits, vegetables and hill paddy. RARS also have a nursery with a large collection of rare roses and ornamental plants. Visitors can purchase seeds and saplings at the sales counter.

 

Phantom Rock
Phantom rock is named so because of its skull shape and is locally called Cheengeri Mala. The immediate surroundings offer excellent photo opportunities. Phantom Rock is located close to Ambalavayal town.

Regular buses are available from Sulthan Bathery Bus Station. Kozhikode Railway Station is about 112 km from Ambalavayal and the nearest airport is Calicut Airpor
