How to Reach Varkala by Air:

The closest airport for Varkala is that of Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.This airport is only about 55 Kms away from Varkala. Most of the airlines fly into the state capital of Trivandrum ( Thiruvananthapuram) from major cities in India.

How to Reach Varkala by Rail:

Varkala is well connected on a train network within the state of Kerala. Nearly all trains heading north or south in Kerala will stop at Varkala. For trains from outside the state of Kerala , reaching Trivandrum ( Thiruvananthapuram) is the best and fastest way.

How to Reach Varkala by Road:

 Kerala is well connected by the state run KSRTC buses. Private buses are few and not of the quality you will find in the North India. KSRTC buses are available from the state bus stands in all the cities. The bus ride from Kochi to Varkala takes about 4 hours, whereas from Thiruvananthapuram ( Trivandrum) it takes about an hour.

Buses in Kerala are very basic and not the most comfortable commuting option.

Varkala is a small town and you will not necessarily need a car or taxi to roam around. For slightly longer distances , Auto Rickshaws are available in aplenty. You can also rent bicycles in the city. If living around the cliff/beach area , majority of places can be easily done on foot.
